If you haven’t quite found the perfect Virginia wedding venue yet, and you’re looking for somewhere that offers a mix of countryside charm and a touch of elegance, you’ve come to the right place. Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, VA captured my heart as soon as I photographed a wedding there for the first time—it feels like you’ve stepped out of the big city and into your own little fairytale surrounded by rolling hills, lush vineyards, and stunning mountain views!
Sound like your kinda vibe? Then keep reading, because I’m about to dive into all the nitty-gritty details you need to know about getting married at Stone Tower Winery.

Set in the dreamy Virginia countryside just 15 minutes from downtown Leesburg, Stone Tower Winery is the ultimate place to host your family, friends, and loved ones for an unforgettable weekend together. It’s only 30 minutes from IAD and an hour from DCA, making it fairly easy for your guests to travel in and reach the venue without a long drive. The location is honestly perfect, close enough to DC that you have easy access to plenty of activities, restaurants, and things to do, but far enough that you get the peace and quiet of being in the suburbs. It makes your special day feel like a destination wedding far away from your normal life—without the cost (and travel time) of planning an actual destination wedding!

One of the coolest things about Stone Tower Winery is that it’s completely family-owned, and that over three generations of the family have called Hogback Mountain their home. That means they know this area through and through, and have deep connections to the land, the people, and the space. Because this venue is run by a family who has taken care of guests, couples, and groups for years and years, you just know that your wedding will have so much intention & love poured into each and every detail.

Now that you know a little bit about the history of Stone Tower Winery, let’s talk about what makes it such a special venue, and why I would recommend it to ANY couple looking for a charming, classy Virginia wedding venue.
As I mentioned before, Stone Tower Winery is only about an hour’s drive from DC—but it feels like you’re not anywhere close to a city! This makes it an incredible option for DC couples who want to celebrate somewhere tranquil, quiet, and secluded, but not travel too far from home. It also means that you can easily head into the city if you want to explore with your loved ones, or participate in some of the fun touristy activities with guests who came in from out of state! You can completely escape the hustle & bustle of city life while also having access to all of the most loved destinations in DC—the best of both worlds.

Don’t even get me started on these views. . . I’m still replaying them in my head from the first time I visited. Stone Tower Winery is set on Hogback Mountain, so you get the absolute most incredible views of the surrounding vineyards, Bull Run Mountain, and pretty much the most luscious greenery everywhere you look. Who wouldn’t want to tie the knot atop a scenic hillside vineyard, or next to a quaint little pond, or in front of insane mountain views? (more on the venue’s ceremony options in just a minute)

Wedding venue green flag: when they have a dedicated space for you to get ready in, not just some random room with a mirror, a table, and terrible fluorescent lighting! The Farmhouse at Stone Tower Winery serves as a gorgeous getting-ready suite that you can use all day, from getting your hair and makeup done in the morning to when you need a little breather mid-reception. It’s not just a room with space for you and your hair & makeup artist, though—it’s an entire, historic home with plenty of room for you and your wedding party to move throughout the day. My personal favorite part of the home is actually what’s in the front yard: a gorgeous pink floral tree that is just begging to bear witness to your first look!

With such a variety of ceremony and reception locations to choose from, Stone Tower Winery works equally well for intimate gatherings or large weddings of up to 250 guests. Honestly, you really can’t go wrong with any of the location options—all of them are absolutely stunning places to say your vows! Here’s a little overview of each ceremony site so you can find the one that matches what you’re looking for:
This is the spot for you if you want to tie the knot outdoors, in front of spectacular vineyard and mountain views! You can start your processional from the lush vines, the rustic wooden gates, or the winding path—giving you plenty of options to customize your entrance just to your liking.

The pond ceremony location is such a dream come true; you’ll have your ceremony in front of a beautiful pond, with cascading rows of vineyards & gorgeous stone accents in the distance.

If you’re getting married in the winter—or would just prefer an indoor ceremony—the ballroom is a breathtaking place to do it. This room is the definition of effortless elegance, with a panoramic wall of windows, sparkling chandeliers, and even a bit of stonework to give it an indoor-outdoor feel. Since the ballroom is also where you’ll hold your reception, you and your guests can head to the Barrel Club Room for a post-ceremony cocktail hour while the staff flips the room around for you!

Your other option for an indoor ceremony is the winery’s Tank Room, a unique and enchanting room where much of the venue’s wine is made throughout the year. The cathedral ceilings and wood accents make this room feel super open and spacious, and the romance of the stone archway provides a dreamy spot to say your I do’s. One thing to note is that the Tank Room may be unavailable at certain times of year, as it is a functional winery space!
The Vineyard View Ballroom at Stone Tower Winery is probably one of my favorite reception venues I’ve ever seen—it is HUGE with tons of space to accommodate guests, and still have a massive dance floor. With space to seat anywhere from 50-250 people, it’s such a romantic and elegant room to mingle with your loved ones, enjoy a delicious seated dinner, and party the night away on the huge dance floor underneath a glistening chandelier. Plus, the panoramic views you get of the hills and vineyards outside are to die for.
Along with the ballroom, you and your guests can move throughout a couple of other spaces throughout the evening: the Barrel Club Room, where you can enjoy a warm, welcoming cocktail hour, and the reception terrace that overlooks the vines and mountains—perfect for post-dinner s’mores, cigars around the fire pit, or a grand sparkler send-off.
SO. Many. Options.

Who says your wedding festivities have to be crammed into a single day? Something I really appreciate about Stone Tower Winery is that it not only offers a memorable wedding day experience: it also gives you plenty of ways to customize your celebration and extend the party over a full weekend, instead. If you love a good post-party brunch, you can add a Farmhouse Brunch to your event, where you can enjoy delicious mimosas, parfaits, charcuterie, and SO much more. Or maybe you want to elevate your rehearsal dinner and turn it into a full evening affair: choose from the modern Sparkling House, the rustic Harvest Barn, the cozy Wild Boar Hall, or the intimate Summit Room for an amazing pre-wedding party with your closest loved ones!
Stone Tower Winery even has on-site accommodations you can book, including the 1-bedroom Cottage and the Chalet, which can fit up to 10 guests. Wouldn’t it be so fun to invite a few of your family and friends to stay on the property for the weekend, and get in some extra quality time together?

Finally, the opportunities for jaw-dropping photos are truly endless at Stone Tower Winery. The open fields, the vineyard rows, the dreamy cellar doors, and the seasonal blooms around the property. . . the views are wildly scenic everywhere you go.

Now, I want to answer a few FAQ’s about the logistics of getting married at Stone Tower Winery so that you know exactly what to expect.
While Stone Tower Winery offers both indoor and outdoor options for year-round versatility, this venue is at its finest during peak season, from May-October. The warm evenings, daytime sunshine, and golden hour sunsets are just *chef’s kiss*, and allow you to have a few more options when it comes to choosing your ceremony site. If you get married on the early end of peak season, you’ll get to see gorgeous spring blossoms, and if you get married closer to fall, the vineyard colors are INCREDIBLE.
If you want to bring vendors that aren’t on Stone Tower Winery’s list of preferred vendors, you will need to get them approved by the venue coordinator (included in your rental fee). While this does add an extra step to the planning process, I can say that the experience I had with the vendor team I worked with at Stone Tower Winery was amazing, so you can be sure you’ll only be working with the best of the best.
Yes, but hiring buses or other carpool transportation is encouraged! If you have guests staying in the Cottage or the Chalet, they’ll need transportation to the main venue, about a mile away.
