Best for couples who want a historic estate venue, steeped in rich Virginia history
Located in the heart of Virginia’s wine country, Keswick Vineyards is a picturesque and historic place to tie the knot amidst rolling farmland, dramatic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and rural beauty all around. The venue is family-owned and operated, founded in 2002 but full of rich history dating back to the 18th & 19th centuries.
Weddings here get that perfect blend of countryside charm and contemporary elegance, thanks to the gorgeous design of Edgewood Estate—which also boasts manicured lawns, and an iconic fountain spot for ceremonies. From the Carriage House Lawn, to the gazebo, to the whimsical ivory sailcloth tent provided by the venue for your reception, there is no shortage of picture-perfect spots to exchange your vows (& take newlywed portraits, of course) at Keswick Vineyards!

Best for couples who are drawn to colonial-style architecture and want a romantic, destination getaway
This estate venue is steeped in history as well, dating back to colonial times. The Clifton Inn was originally built in 1799 as a home for Thomas Jefferson’s daughter, and has since been transformed into a contemporary wedding venue known for its mid-century style, renovated amenities, and sprawling grounds. This 100-acre property overlooks the forests of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and includes seven different venue sites to choose from, including a secret garden, cozy library, and even a croquet lawn.
With on-site 20 guest rooms and plenty of nooks & crannies to explore, this is truly such a wonderful place to host your friends and family for an unforgettable wedding weekend. Start the festivities off with a dip in the infinity pool, a soak in the hot tub, or a private yoga session in the Secret Garden—maybe even a tour of a local distillery, or a golf outing. The options are endless!

Best for couples who want to feel a connection to nature, and embrace a European-inspired feel
The Market at Grelen is a botanical dream come true, set within a 1,000-acre tree nursery in the foothills of central Virginia. It’s one of the more unique venues on this list, as many of the rest are vineyards, wineries, and nurseries—whereas the Market at Grelen offers more of a European garden party aesthetic that I’m in love with.
Display gardens, rolling fields, and walking trails are only a few of the highlights this property has to offer, dripping in lush elegance and tranquility everywhere you go. What I appreciate most about the Market at Grelen is the sense of place it creates, really allowing you to be present in this magical garden haven with you and your guests, and embrace the natural beauty of the countryside!
Couples love that this venue is beautiful and accessible in all four seasons, with versatile spaces that allow your event to flow both indoors and outdoors. They’re also adding one more venue to the list come spring 2027, and I personally think it’s going to be their best yet: The Conservatory, a breathtaking glass structure that’s truly going to blow your mind. Thrilled to watch this enchanting vision come to life!
Wedding packages at The Market at Grelen start at $12,500 for a Saturday during peak season, and include the following:

Best for couples who want the grandeur of a historic estate, mixed with the charm of a secret garden
Wish you could have that botanical, nature-focused feel of the Market at Grelen, combined with one of the beautiful historic estates featured earlier on this list? Boxwood Villa is a lovely option that I’d recommend considering. It’s got the old-world charm and style of a 19th century estate, but it also has the romance and whimsy of an enchanting garden venue. The best of both worlds!
The 13.5 acre property is super flexible and versatile, allowing you to create a fully custom celebration, using the space however you’d like to. All ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception locations around the villa are outdoors, with the exception of the lodge that you can use for rehearsal dinners of 20 people or less. No matter where your event takes place throughout the property, and no matter if you’re hosting a laid-back, intimate affair or a glamorous event with everyone you love—you’ll get to enjoy a totally gorgeous backdrop at every turn.
All-inclusive wedding packages at Boxwood Villa start at $15,500 for a peak season date with up to 150 guests, and include the following:

Encompassing over 500 acres in Virginia’s Southwest Mountains, the property includes a private vineyard, rolling hills as far as the eye can see, and walking trails that wind through the trees.

Best for couples who want to celebrate closer to the city, but still enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest
For couples who’d like to tie the knot closer to town, Potter’s Craft Cider is only 10 minutes from downtown Charlottseville—yet it maintains the private, picturesque setting of venues further out into the mountains. It’s not just a brewery or tasting room, though—it’s an entire venue with centuries of history, beautiful design, and thoughtful event experiences. I love that the design of the venue was inspired by a European farmhouse, with a selection of spaces that are easy and seamless to flow through as the day progresses, including a chapel, a patio, and a grassy terrace!
